Lewis & Clark Trail Tour to Spokane 2005!

Of course, the number one destination for SDC members and all Studebaker fans in 2005 will be the 41 st Annual SDC International Meet in Spokane, Washington, August 15 – 19 (many folks arrive on the 14 th and leave on the 20 th !). You are planning to attend, aren't you? But, how are you planning to get there? In your Studebaker for sure.but why not consider joining up with a bunch of other Stude owners for a tour to the International Meet of genuine historical proportions!

You're invited to join a tour to Spokane that follows the famed Lewis & Clark Trail! Way back in May of 1804 Captain Meriwether Lewis and Captain William Clark departed St. Louis to explore the Missouri River and streams as needed to find the most direct route across the continent for commerce. In August they crossed the Great Divide and in November they reached the Pacific Ocean at Astoria, Oregon.

2004-2005 is the 200-year anniversary of the Lewis and Clark expedition so this Studebaker tour to the Spokane Meet is great timing. The tour trail will start in Independence, Missouri on Sunday, August 7 and travel along the Lewis & Clark Trail through Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and along the Oregon/Washington border to arrive in Spokane on Sunday, August 14.

It promises to be a fantastic tour. There are things to see and do all along the way, not to mention the great people you'll meet and travel with! There's even an advance gathering on Saturday, August 6 where you can visit the National Frontier Trails Center, 1827 log courthouse, Truman Home, the Truman Presidential Library, and more. Then, at the end of the tour, there is an optional exciting 75-mile jet boat tour w/meal up the Hells Canyon Scenic Wilderness.

Alan Meeker, Marion, IA ( studemee@msn.com ) is handling tour registration and can answer all your questions. Early registration before May 1, 2005 is $50 per car for a couple or family. After May 1, registration is $75. So, sign up early and save.
