STUDEBAKER'S STARLIGHT COUPES SPARKLED IN 1958

The 1958 Studebaker President Starlight coupe is among the most overlooked flashy 1950s cars, complete with four headlights, soaring fins, big chrome grille and a powerful V-8.

The President Starlight coupe and similar, slightly lower-line Commander Starlight coupe lasted only one model year because they came during the last year that Studebaker tried to fully compete with Detroit's Big Three automakers -- General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. (more story follows)
