SDC ELECTIONS FOR 2009-2011 TERM

Following nominations, which were closed on 11/20/08, it is that time again to elect those who will manage the affairs of your Studebaker Drivers Club. It is important that you have a say in who governs the largest single marque automobile club in the world. The candidates seeking your support have agreed to devote the time and effort necessary to carry out the duties of Regional Manager and Zone Coordinator in the jurisdictions you live in, so take a minute to complete a ballot and mail it to the SDC Vice-president: Richard Dormois, PO Box 30103, Mesa, Arizona 85275-0103

Ballots are published in Turning Wheels or can be downloaded HERE. Please mail it in time so it is received by midnight April 1, 2009.

If you live in Missouri, Utah or Pennsylvania, complete a ballot for Regional Manager.

If you live in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mexico, Oklahoma or Texas, support your candidate for Zone Coordinator for the South Central Zone.

If you live in Ontario (Canada), Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan or Ohio, fill out a ballot for Zone Coordinator for the Crossroads Zone.

NOTE: Candidates have been nominated for virtually all SDC Zones and Regions. If yours is not mentioned here, it simply means the election was not contested and there is only one candidate who will likely be appointed by the President at the conclusion of the election in April. The term of office is April 15, 2009 to April 15, 2011.

Ensure that you vote just once, live in the Zone or Region where the contested race is and are a current member of the Studebaker Drivers Club.

You may be approached by a candidate in your area to sign a petition on their behalf in support of their election. You may vote like that and your vote counts, but don’t duplicate it, if you have already completed a ballot and mailed it in.

The ballots, available as a PDF download HERE and printed in Turning Wheels, are designed for couples to vote separately if they wish. Remember, the ballots reflect only the contested races for Zone Coordinator and Regional Manager.

Thank you for taking part in the election process and be sure to put your SDC membership number on your ballot.

Richard Dormois
Vice President, Studebaker Drivers Club Inc.

For Missouri Regional Manager

John Crooks of St Joseph, MO

My name is John Crooks and I am running for the position of Missouri Regional Manager. I am currently the President of the Heart of America Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club. I first joined the Studebaker Drivers Club in 1972 and have owned Studebakers since 1967.

If re-elected to the position of Regional Manager, I will continue to maintain proper communication with the Chapters in Missouri. Your support in the upcoming election will be appreciated.

Thank you, John

Vic Phillips of Poplar Bluff, MO

For Pennsylvania Regional Manager

Jannis Van Arsdale of Seven Valley, PA

Steve Grant of Russel, PA

Don Jones of Easton, PA

To my Studebaker friends and collectors in Pennsylvania. In this state we have one of the largest number of Studebaker owners in the US and the largest number of registered Studebakers in the country. These numbers give us the opportunity to grow and thrive as local chapters. As your Regional Manager, I will assist all local chapters to achieve new membership growth while retaining the members they have. At the same time I believe that the backbone of any local organization is the production of a local newsletter on a regular basis. I will assist all of the local chapter newsletter editors, at their request, in producing a quality document for their chapters. I will also assist the local chapter Presidents in contacting members who have not renewed their National Memberships and pass those names along to the local chapters in an effort to enhance their growth.

SDC Experience:
1976-Present Studebaker Drivers Club, First joined upon purchase of first Studebaker, a 1956 “C” Cab Pickup. Joined Keystone Region at the same time. Admittedly in my first years I was a member only and not active in any position or activities. Bought first Avanti in 1995 and determined to get active at the local level. Attended most local events held by Keystone Region on a regular basis. Served as Keystone VP 1998-2000 and President 2000-2002. Currently serve as Historian. Served as Director of Public Relations and Concours Chairman for 44th SDC International held in Lancaster, PA. 2008.

Below are links to a continuation of my profile detailing work and other collector automobile club experience, along with a link to my Photobucket account where I have many Studebaker related photos and other material.

Thanks in advance for your vote.

For Utah Regional Manager

Fred Ball of Salt Lake City, UT

Terry Overturf of Salt Lake City, UT

For South Central Zone Coordinator

Nita Ketchum of Ida, Arkansas

I am Nita Ketchum, the current Zone Coordinator of the South Central Zone. I would like to continue in this position. Over the past two years I have attended the fall Meet in Denton, TX, two Spring Meets in Tulsa, OK and the International Meet in South Bend, IN and also Lancaster, PA. Prior to my becoming zone coordinator I attended International SDC Meets in Red Wing, MN, Omaha, NE and South Bend, IN. I feel this had made me more aware of what is needed in the communication between Chapters and SDC. I have been in touch with the Regional Managers of each state and with many of the chapters.

I am a member of the Studebakers of AR chapter and attended several meetings this past couple of years. I am also a member of the Ozark Trails Chapter which has members in AR, KS, MO and OK. I have held many offices and I am a co chair for the 47th International Meet to be held on June 19 -25, 2011 in Springfield, MO. I coordinate the Orphan Car Show that is held in Branson, MO each September. This will be the 14th annual show and it is sponsored by the Ozark Trails Chapter with support from many SDC Chapters.

My wish is to get all chapters listed on the website with current information and provide each chapter with the information and desire to increase membership. Communication with all the members in our zone is imperative to the health of the Studebakers Drivers Club. Every member is important!

My husband Richard and I own a 1964 Daytona that is our driver, a 1962 Lark that is being customized and a 1947 M series that is having a frame off restoration. We love our Studebakers and will continue with our support of the Studebaker Drivers Club.

I am asking you to take a few minutes to vote for me. With your support I will do my best for all of you in my zone.

Mark Brians of Belton, Texas

For Crossroads Zone Coordinator

Jay Jordan of Whitmore Lake, Michigan

Sharon Krueger of Flushing, Michigan

Greetings, my name is Sharon Krueger and I am running for Crossroads Zone Coordinator.  My platform is "better communication".  I will try to increase communication between the Zone and the SDC and local chapters.  Zone Meets and major events of interest to Studebaker Drivers will be advertised well in advance so chapter calendars can be adjusted.  I will take all observations and problems seriously.
A little about me, I was introduced to Studebaker at age 16 when Dave Krueger came to pick me up for our first date in a '56 Sky Hawk.  Studebaker was put on the back burner as we raised and educated children.  We got back to Studebakering in the '90's, we were charter members of the Northeastern Michigan SDC and I am the newsletter editor.  Our chapter won the Minnie Barnes Award this year, we sponsored an intern in auto restoration and gave birth to a scholarship program that now involves another car club.
We are the proud owners of 2 '57 Hawks and a '48 m16 Wrecker, all "drivers".
If you live in Crossroads Zone please take a few minutes to vote for me.  If husband and wife are both SDC members, both may cast a vote.
   Our chapter website is: www.nemsdc.info
Thank you, Sharon
