Studebaker Stories:

My first Studebaker and the Girls

By Michael DuVal

After leaving the Army in 1968 I was a very poor college student. Seems the only car I could afford was purchased from my room mates (ex-Navy) father for $30. It was a 1951 Studebaker Champion. It didn't need much work.

I was very active in college activities at the time and would take girls on dates regularly. If it rained the girls would have to reach under the dash and make the windshield wipers work so we could see. I would be so embarrassed that I wanted to crawl under the floor mats. But the girls just laughed and giggled at my dilemma.

That was over 40 years ago. And some of the girls are still close friends today.
